Maggot Fest 2010!

Tim "The Maggot" "Dundee" Scott's been smashin' it in the past year or so since he came back from Japan. Writing for Mess & Noise, Three Thousand and punk press Stained Sheets he's been talking up the good and cutting down the fat. Good dude.

So Tim's put together a killer line up with some of my favourite local and interstate bandz. Can't wait for The Mammaries, Australia's only Mummies tribute band- i assume. I cannot express how pumped i am for Peewee back in Melbourne either. What a party, "Carbonas but a bit less 'dude' sounding". I'd say i'm a strong member of the Bloody Hammer cheersquad too, what a band. If you don't go to this i don't know what to say. This is going to be 'Flip Out Good'.

Bring it on Sydney and Bris crews, come down for this.

Friday is all about The Tote (for those not at Meredith)

The Tote Hotel, what can you say about it? If i was stranded on an island and could only have 1 bar, it would definately be The Tote.

+ Love of Diagrams DJs & DJ Shags

$5 - Doors 8pm

Dan Lewis is a short man who wears glasses. He also knows most of Melbourne which is a great effort since he was born and raised in New Zealand. He likes music and birthday parties so he has combined his birthday party and music and come up with his birthday party gig at the tote. Popolice are playing and it's an ex New Zealand guy making deadly noisy pop.

Dachen are also playing and they feature a member from Woollen Kits. XTX are playing this shindig and they feature members from repairs and Splitfoot.Hammocks and Honey are playing and this is a wozza who is really into lady gaga and glitter so lets hope she is into tight spandex costumes as well.

There is also some band called the Warragul Disgrace who will play last and some of them are from Warragul and all are disgraceful. After the bands have played to get every one in the mood for loving and shagging there will be love of diagrams djing and shags will also be djing. So bake a birthday cake and eat it then come to dan's party to dance the cake off your hips. from marcus.

Upstairs in Cobra!

Baptism of Uzi

Late Arvo Sons

Little Killing

Halfheads

After a year of hypnotising subjects with their garage psychedelia the dudes will play their final show of the year in the vine infested pit of Cobra Bar. The Late Arvo Sons, Little Killing and HalfHeads are also featured on what sets to be a night of electric rock in the jungle.

Late Arvo Sons Interview

Here's some of an interview i did with the Late Arvo Sons, it's going to be in the next Negative Guestlist zine which is made in Brisbane. Go to the NGL myspace for more info at http://www.myspace.com/brisbanefanzine.

F- Frosty
K- Kent
M- Mark
S- Stu
Z- Zac

Z- Where was the first gig?

M- Cobra Bar, in the first week of December 2007 with Pretty Green.

Z- So where did the name Late Arvo Sons come about?

M- We started jamming in March of 07 and didn't do our first gig till November, we figured out the name after struggling for months in about mid October. We had a few names that we couldn't all agree on- in fact i don't think we all agreed on the Late Arvo Sons initially.

I was at work one afternoon and it'd been a hot day, it was getting late in the day and i said to my boss how nice or great is it in the late arvo sun. We were working right on the beach and i just immediately messaged the boys, what do you think of this? and i did a little play on words with the s-o-n-s instead. And it was pretty much that and i dunno i think one or 2 of us weren't into it at first but it just kind of grew on us. We were just like "It suits us enough, and we're at our wits end with thinking of names" and i think we did pretty well really.

Z- So is this the first band for you all?

K- First band-ers.

F- Kent and Stu used to jam years ago a bit.

K- Yeah the first time we jammed was at Mount Buller, when we were living there. Remember that? You used that tobogin for a bass drum and wooden spoons for sticks! And we played Nirvana covers and shit. Then we stepped up to Stu's nan's house before we moved to the shed playing Pennywise covers.

Late Arvo Sons film clip launch

Late Arvo Sons launch the film clip for the song Skin this Thursday 15th Oct in the cobra bar at the Tote. 7.30 start, 8.00 screening then a quick set afterwards.

------
18/10

This was a good time!

I got in just before the film clip was played. It was filmed at The Tote and unfortunately i can't remember the name of the guy who made it(i'll add it here when i find out!), anyways it came out looking really cool. It was a cold and rainy night but there was a good group of people there for the showing. To celebrate it, the guys played a few songs.
